Food Safety
The Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage sets standards relating (amongst other things) to food, drink and hygiene. These include specific legal requirements for food, drink and illness notification, as well as statutory guidance on food preparation, storage, handling and serving. Our Food Safety training covers all of these requirements as well as highlighting good personal practices and the importance of effective training and supervision.
Healthy Eating
Ensuring good nutrition in the early years of a child's life is very important. Carers are able to convey positive messages about food and eating through the snacks, drinks and meals that are served, the activities they engage in and the attitudes and behaviour towards food and food choices.
Nutrition is also included as an important part of the Early Years Foundation Stage Welfare Requirements.
We help settings to meet the statutory requirements and to establish a lead in good nutrition by delivering a Level 2 Award in Healthy Eating.
Health & safety
The need to keep children safe is widely acknowledged and formalised in the Welfare Requirements section of the Early Years Foundation Stage.
To help settings meet their moral and statutory obligations for Health, Safety and Welfare, we deliver training in Health and Safety in a half-day format and as a 1-day class with optional Level 2 accreditation.
We also deliver a half-day course in Risk Assessment.
Risk assessment
We deliver a customised half-day course in Risk Assessment for Early Years.
As an option, this is also available as a one-day accredited course CIEH Level 2 Award in Principles of Risk Assessment.
Paediatric First Aid
Clear requirements exist in ensuring that at least one person with a current Paediatric First Aid Certificate must be in the setting (or with an outing) at all times when children are present. Further requirements exist in relation to first aid boxes and accident recording.
We can help settings meet their statutory requirements by delivering a 12-hour training course with the emphasis on understanding the needs of an ill or injured younger child.
